Hartlepool Development Corporation (HDC)

Hartlepool Development Corporation was established throughout May and June 2023. Its purpose is to further the economic development and regeneration of Hartlepool, attracting public and private sector investment and transform and improve the environment of the Corporation area. Specifically, its Masterplan aims to deliver “an imaginative, creative and ambitious 21^st century maritime town”, creating 2,400 new high-quality jobs and 1,300 quality town centre homes. Major initial projects include the revitalisation of the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, which the Development now owns, and the creation of a thriving screen industries Production Village around the existing Northern Studios. The HDC is also the local statutory planning authority for its footprint.
